PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

In order to be eligible for playoffs a player must have been rostered and played in 10 Varsity league games. An elite player must play in 10 Varsity league games. All applications for exceptions to the above must be referred to the Rules Committee for review and approval. No formal form is necessary for exceptions applications, but the request must be in writing. Email the pertinent information to Andy Leonard, aleonard@mlkaw.com. 

DON’T LEAVE THIS UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE – IF YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR AN EXCEPTION FOR ANY OF YOUR PLAYERS GET IT DONE NOW OR YOU WILL RUN THE RISK OF A PLAYER SITTING OUT OR WORSE, YOU MAY FORFEIT A GAME IF YOU PLAY AN INELIGIBLE PLAYER.

ELIGIBILITY RULES

7-G-4 A – Ensure players are enrolled in courses that offer 3.0 units of credit.

7-G-4 H – Review first semester grade cards to ensure scholastic eligibility for the second semester and playoffs. Scholastic eligibility may be appealed based on issues such as illness, injury or other like issue. The Rules Committee will review each appeal and make a recommendation to the Board for approval.

7-G-5 – Graduation Credits Completed. These situations must be forwarded to the Rules Committee for their verification.

7-G-12 C – Eligibility challenges handled by the Disciplinary Committee the last 20 days of the season.

7-G-16 – Exceptions considered will be those events out of control of the player – such as illness, injury. The exception must include information regarding the start date of non-play, reason for non-play, number of games misses, number of games played outside of non-play time frame (reasons for not playing games, if there are any). Documentation should include verification from doctors, hospitals, clinics, etc. Non-play for medical reasons should also include documentation of when the player is released to play.

2-JV-2 – After 10 Varsity games an elite player is no longer JV eligible.

2-JV-3 – After 30 points (Varsity and JV) a swing player is no longer JV eligible.
